Kagi's Best Feature, And How To Set It Up EffortlesslyThose of you who have visited the site recently will no doubt be aware what a fan we are of Kagi. I thought, keeping on the same lines as the Paypal article that I'd introduce you briefly to my single favourite feature of a Kagi account - the free digital download service (or KDDS as they call it - Kagi Digital Download Service). The software involves CGI scripts and can either be set up to be used on your own website or theirs. Setting it up on your own is free, using theirs has a small cost, though I think it's well worth it. You'll find the current costs at the Kagi website that you can find by clicking here. All you need to do is email a copy of the product your customers will be buying to David at Kagi, who is the technical contact there in charge of the KDDS software. You also need to include whether you'd like to use their server or your own, your Kagi account details and the specifics of the unique download links. This is how it works. Once a customer has been transferred from your site to Kagi's secure order form and has made their purchase, they are automatically emailed with a unique download URL. This means not only is delivery virtually instantaneous, but it also verifies the customer's email address - it has to be correct or they can't get the product! Each link sent out is unique and can be set, at your request, to either expire after a number of days (i.e. they've got 3 days and after this time has elapsed the link stops working) or a number of downloads (more than one is recommended just incase a problem is experienced such as someone getting cut off from the Internet). Whichever way you look at it, Kagi's digital delivery software is another effective, easy to set up method of protecting your intellectual property whilst satisfying your customers.
