Does Yahoo Admit Sites With Advertising?Word Count: 578 ======================================== By Richard Adams © 2004. All rights reserved. A common question asked by those starting or running their own business on the Internet is the importance of submitting their site to Yahoo. After all, at $299 for Yahoo to even take a look, and no guarantee whether you'll be accepted at the end anyway, it's pretty risky. And it's not exactly cheap for startup businesses either. Except that in general, submitting to Yahoo isn't risky at all. I've got sites listed in the past without any problems. Far from it - every site I've submitted has been approved straight away, into the category I chose, and with exactly the title and description I chose. Once you know the "secrets" to successfully submitting to Yahoo it's actually surprisingly easy. With $299 at risk, it certainly pays to get it right first time, and I base all my success in this arena on a very short, simple, inexpensive ebook called "Yahoo Exposed". If you're considering submitting to Yahoo now or in the future, this is the only book you'll need and it gets my highest recommendation. As I've had so much success with Yahoo, I decided to up the ante by trying to submit something you're not supposed to be able to do... You see, one of my sites is listed in just about every search engine on the net - AskJeeves, Google, MSN, Lycos, AllTheWeb, Excite, AltaVista and more. Except that for some reason I never got around to submitting it to Yahoo. Anyway, according to general understanding, my site Merchant Account Forum would never get accepted into Yahoo because: (1) It has affiliate links on the site Anyway, I submitted the site on the 23rd of October - here's the email they sent me: >> Thank you, the URL you submitted http://merchantaccountforum.com has been received by Yahoo!. Your submission request has been assigned a unique ORDER ID: xxxxxxxx. Thank you for taking the time to submit your site. We rely on users such as yourself to make the Yahoo! directory complete and comprehensive. Thanks, The Yahoo! Express Team On the 28th of November, just 5 days later, I received the following email (edited for brevity): >> The following URL submitted for expedited review with Yahoo! Express Order #xxxxxxxx has been added to the Yahoo! Directory: http://merchantaccountforum.com Thank you for your submission! The Yahoo! Express Team So there we have it - Merchant Account Forum has been accepted into Yahoo, despite the "problems". And again, my title, description and category chosen remained completely intact. The important point to note here is that if submitted correctly, Yahoo *will* accept sites with affiliate links in *and* with adverts from Google Adsense. ------- Incidentally, if you haven't yet started using Google Adsense you really should consider it - we've found it to be highly profitable. It's run by Google, the world's most popular search engine, so you know you're working with a reliable partner. Every time a visitor to your site clicks on an advert you make money - simple as that. A great introduction to Adsense, plus tips on how to get your site approved for the service can be found at: > http://adsense.sitesell.com -------------- So if you've been thinking about Yahoo but weren't sure about how to go about it, or thought your site wouldn't get accepted then take another look now. ======================================== To receive this article sent to you by email please .
